The NZSO is performing Handel’s Messiah over the weekend – in Wellington on Saturday and Palmerston North on Sunday.
In Palmerston North, the soloists will be young singers from the Dame Malvina Major Foundation, and in Wellington they’ll be Madeline Pierard, Kristin Darragh, James Eggleston and Martin Snell.
The Tudor Consort will be the choir in both centres.
The conductor is Nicholas McGegan – born in the UK, and now resident in San Francisco.
He’s renowned above all as a conductor of baroque repertoire, and has considerable experience in putting on staged works by composers such as Handel and Rameau.
