The New Zealand jazz community is about to get a lot better connected with the launch of Jazz Aotearoa. It’s a new organisation which aims to unite the various local jazz communities from the far north to the bottom of the south, and to bring local jazz to a wider audience. Nick Tipping talked to Jake Baxendale, one of the musicians behind the new initiative, about how jazz fits in to the music scene in New Zealand.
