Pianist Alexandra Dariescu is passionate about getting a younger audience to the concert hall and inspiring them.
Romanian-born pianist Alexandra Dariescu is in New Zealand to perform Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. She’s particularly renowned for a multimedia production The Nutcracker and I – an adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite featuring a piano soloist, a ballerina and digital animation.
"As artists, we need to be ever creative in showing our audiences how we can bring classical music to the 21st century," she says.
David Morriss talks with Alexandra about her groundbreaking multimedia performance piece.
