Organist Kemp English believes in bringing organ music to the people - complete with the organ!
When Covid-19 caused the cancellation of an upcoming concert tour of England and Europe, Kemp jumped at the chance to replace it with a tour of North Island rest homes and retirement villages. The idea came from Nelson musician Mark Patterson, who has just completed the South Island leg of this ambitious project.
Now, several performances in, Kemp English is on the road with a truck and digital organ. He sees this as a wonderful opportunity to bring joy to some of the people who are most vulnerable in a pandemic situation, and also as a way of thanking the workers who care for them.
