For the past 10 years, trumpeter Bill Stoneham has been active as a freelance trumpeter, after having spent quite a bit of time as an orchestral player.
He's been a member of the Royal New Zealand Army Band, principal trumpet for the Auckland Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra, and principal trumpet in Opus Orchestra.
This weekend he's the soloist with Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra in Hummel's Trumpet Concerto.
Bill spoke with Upbeat about the upcoming concert, and how he started playing the trumpet in the first place.
