Dr Tessa Romano is Lecturer and Head of Voice at Otago University Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou. Born in New York, Tessa studied with Helen Boatwright, one of the great pioneers in the performance of American song.

Tessa spoke with Upbeat about their own teaching practice (which includes the “Voces8 Method”) and how it informs their own performing.

Tessa is performing with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra this weekend, singing Aaron Copland's 'Eight Poems of Emily Dickinson'.
