Kiwi organist Thomas Gaynor can list some pretty impressive achievements on his CV, including winning the 2017 St Albans International Organ Competition, the 3rd International Bach-Liszt competition in Germany, and the Sydney International Organ Competition.
While studying at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, he was awarded the coveted Artist’s Certificate – an honour the School hadn’t given an organist for nearly 30 years.
Thomas can now tick something else off the bucket list. He's just given a recital on the world's largest pipe organ: the 1932 Midmer-Losh organ at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Upbeat caught up with Thomas to talk about the experience.
