    Since its inception in 1999, the annual Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address has served as an important forum in the world of contemporary music in Australia.

    Internationally recognised conductor Simone Young is an acknowledged interpreter of the operas of Wagner and Strauss. She was Music Director of Opera Australia from 2001 to 2003 and in August 2005, took up the post of General Manager and Music Director of the Hamburg State Opera and Music Director of the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg (ABC)
