    Philosophy Talk

Philosophy Talk is radio that celebrates the value of the examined life. Our two philosopher-hosts invite listeners to join them in conversations about a wide variety of issues, ranging from popular culture to our most deeply held beliefs about science, morality, and the human condition

Philosophy Talk is presented by Ken Taylor and John Perry of Stanford University

    Six programmes

    (1) Philosophy for the Young, Corrupting or Empowering?

Socrates was executed for corrupting the youth. In America, youth below college age are usually not exposed to philosophy in the classroom. Is philosophy all that dangerous? Should it be taught to teenagers? Or would this lead to a generation of self-absorbed and sceptical young people, shirking their duties in order to worry about the meaning of life? John and Ken are joined by Jack Bowen, author of The Dream Weaver and If You Can Read This: The Philosophy of Bumper Stickers, for a programme recorded with a live audience of young philosophers at Palo Alto High School (Ben Manilla Productions)
