Instrument Makers in Australasia

Four programmes

(4) Joanne Saunders and Peter Biffin

It's essential for instrument makers to have a passion for the traditions of working with wood. In Melbourne, Joanne Saunders lathes woods from Australia and abroad to create her delicately crafted recorders. And, in Armidale, New South Wales, Peter Biffin uses wood and other natural materials for his vast array of plucked and bowed instruments including the tarhu, a new instrument of his own design. Presented by Matthew Crawford (Media Maker)
