The first recount following the Cook Islands general election will get underway in the high court in Avarua.
A recount in the Penrhyn electorate has been applied for by the Democratic Party candidate, Tepure Tapaitau, who finished nine votes behind the incumbent MP Wilkie Rasmussen after last week's final count.
Today's recount will be done before a justice of the peace .
