Farmers in a highland area in Fiji's West have started using chains and padlocks to secure their cattle following an increase in stealing.
The Fiji Sun reports that seven bullocks and a cow were stolen last week from farms in Sabeto between Lautoka and Nadi.
A victim of the rustlers, Deo Kumari, says people in the area were frustrated and also fed up because of the thefts.
She says they lost a valuable goat and a pair of bullocks, despite them being tethered close to the house, and using chains and padlocks to keep them secure.
Police in Sabeto say investigations are continuing.
