A Fiji lawyer says the widening rift in the Fiji Labour party doesn't augur well for Labour's future.
Hemendra Nagin represents five dissident members of the party who could be disciplined for questioning their leader's style.
The head of the party, Mahendra Chaudhry and president, Jokapeci Koroi, withdrew disciplinary action against the five in the face of legal action from them.
But Mr Nagin says the issue of disciplinary action was raised during the party's recent national council meeting, despite an undertaking that no charges would be laid.
He says further court action is now being considered by the five.
"It's quite saddening to see the rift in the party and it seems that a strong political party is coming to an end. The way it's going it doesn't auger well for the party."
Mr Nagin says Labour must resolve its differences for the good of the country.
The five are the vice president Krishna Datt, deputy leader Poseci Bune, and MPs Felix Anthony, Agni Deo Singh and former senator Dr Atu Emberson-Bain.
