Despite several fund raising drives in Samoa to help the hosting of the South Pacific Games and the country's national rugby team for the World Cup next month, the government is able to provide financial assistance for victims of the tsunami which struck the Solomon Islands in April.
The local Red Cross society has also collected money from a recent fund raising for the same disaster relief effort.
A total of 40 thousand Solomon Islands dollars will be handed to the Solomon Islands Red Cross next week to help those who were affected by the tsunami which killed at least 12 people with many more missing and presumed dead.
The president of the Red Cross in Samoa, Lemalu Tate Simi, says a small but cohesive Samoan community lives in the Solomon's mainly around the capital Honiara.
However no Samoan was reported to have been affected by the tsunami.
