Its was standing room only as over 20,000 packed into Samoa's Apia Park to witness the closing ceremony of the 13th South Pacific Games.
The two week competition attracted around five and a half thousand athletes and officials.
Elma Maua was among the spectators......
"It was an emotional and colourful end to the games as thousands of children thrilled the crowds, whle the athletes walked with pride into the stadium, some stopping for impromptu performances. The clear, still night was perfect for the twelve minute fireworks display which brought gasps and cheers from the crowd. Hundreds of white, blue and yellow balloons were released - the colours of the SPG flag. The stadium fell silent as the flag was lowered and the flame doused. The New Caledonia delegates, supported by a Kanak cultural group, vowed to keep the flag safe until the next games - in Noumea in 2011."
