Wallis and Futuna's territorial assembly has elected Victor Brial as its new speaker.
Mr Brial was the territory's only representative in the French assembly until he lost his seat in the last parliamentary election in June.
Mr Brial, who is a member of France's ruling UMP party, replaces Pesamino Taputai also of the UMP.
