A Niue Legislative Assembly member of 20 years standing, O'Love Jacobsen, says last weekend's election will result in a new Government and a change in premiership.
Mrs Jacobsen, one of just three of the six sitting common roll assembly members to retain her seat, says there is a mood for change.
"The message that's been given to us loud and clear is to change the Government, so yes we're looking forward to putting in a new premier this time around."
Mrs Jacobsen says Toki Talagi as the highest polling common roll member is the obvious choice for premier.
She says if, as she expects, Mr Talagi is elected to the position this Friday, at the first post-election sitting of the assembly, it will be up to him to appoint a cabinet.
Supporters of both Mr Talagi and the caretaker premier Young Vivian were today involved in post election strategy meetings.
