Fiji police say the cause of death of the deputy director general of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Falani Aukuso, was suicide.
His death was announced in American Samoa where he was expected to address the closing ceremony of the Pacific Arts Festival.
Fiji police have told the news agency Pacnews that he was found dead at his home after he failed to turn up to work.
Before joining the SPC, Mr Aukuso had served as general manager of Tokelau's public service.
