American Samoa has eleven new members in the Senate and the House of Representatives following a swearing-in ceremony.
Our correspondent, Fili Sagapolutele says among the 11 newcomers is a new Senate President, Gaoteote Palaie Gaoteote, who will replace, Lolo Moliga.
"A historical event for the Senate itself, for the first time in many many years their are two woman Senators in the territorial Senate. These are a former Senator, Fonoti Aufata and newcomer Asuega Saamata. There are two new Senators in the Senate and their sons are sitting in the House of Representatives another historical event for this new legislature."
Fili Sagapolutele says a Senate seat has been left empty because two candidates had chosen to represent the Manu'a district number two.
Lolo Moliga and Velega Savali have stepped aside until a decision for an appointment by the traditional leaders and orator of Manu'a district number two has been reached.
