In Samoa, the findings of a Commission of Inquiry into guns smuggled from American Samoa to Samoa has been submitted to Cabinet.
The commission was set up to investigate how Samoa's Police Commissioner, Papali'i Lorenese Neru, might have been involved when the firearms were shipped to Apia aboard the government patrol boat, MV Nafanua.
The Samoa Observer says the group was required to find out if the Commissioner had played any role in the operation and whether such a role was in line or not with his official duties.
It was also asked to make relevant recommendations to assist with any appropriate decision to be made under the circumstances.
It is not clear whether Cabinet has made a decision on the commission's 40-page report.
