Losing candidates in the Solomon Islands' Savo/Russell by-election have teamed up to file a petition against winner Sir Allan Kemakeza.
Last week's by-election saw Sir Allan reclaim the seat he had earlier lost when he was sent to prison for five months last year.
He was convicted of demanding with menaces, intimidation and larceny for authorising militants to raid the law firm, Sol-Law Services, while he was Prime Minister in 2002.
The Solomon Star newspaper reports that the four leading losing candidates in the by-election, Reginald Kokili, Henry Zimbo, Charles Mclean and Sonnie Moah are planning to take the matter in court.
Mr Zimbo says they are not disputing the election process and the result, but rather the candidacy of Sir Allan.
He says they believe Sir Allan's candidacy is unconstitutional because a 12-month suspended sentence is still hanging over his head and will not expire until January.
