Saole county in American Samoa has selected Fuata Tanielu Iatala as its new senator to finish the term of Senator Utu Abe Malae.
Utu was appointed a senior executive of the Northern Marianas Commonwealth Utility Corporation last August.
Fuata is the most senior pediatrician at the LBJ Tropical Medical center and is currently the Chief of Staff at the hospital.
He is expected to take up his Senate seat when the Legislature convenes in early January.
