Fiji looking abroad to hire new FSC boss

2:09 pm on 21 December 2010

The Fiji interim government is looking abroad for a new chief executive officer to run the Fiji Sugar Corporation.

The Permanent Secretary for Sugar, Colonel Manasa Vaniqi, has told the Fiji Sun newspaper that the job is being advertised abroad through Price WaterhouseCoopers Australia.

Col Waniqi says applications for local candidates have closed and the process has moved abroad as the FSC needs the best to take up the CEO role.

Until the end of the month, the position will be held by John Prasad.

He had been acting as the FSC boss since October when the previous CEO, Deo Saran, resigned.

The FSC has been incurring losses as the sugar sector has been struggling in recent years.
