Fiji had a surprise 24 run loss to Japan in their opening game at the East Asia Pacific Under 19 Cricket Championships yesterday.
Despite beating the Japanese in a practice match on Friday the Fijians were unable to chase down Japan's 138-9 off their 50 overs.
Cricket Fiji's general manager Jon Symonds says it was a disappointing start to the tournament in a game that Fiji would have been heavily favoured to win.
Fiji's play competition favourites Papua New Guinea on Monday.
