The New Zealand Air Force says its Orion aircraft has succeeded in finding a fisherman missing in Kiribati waters.
It says the plane spotted the man in his 15-foot vessel within 20 minutes of arriving in the search area.
The crew were able to drop supplies, including food, water and a radio, to the man whose vessel had drifted just under 100 kilometres from the fishing ground west of Banaba.
The Defence Force says a second search is underway in the area but has given no details.
