Charter flights to the Northern Marianas have been launched from a second city in Russia as tourist numbers grow for Saipan.
The charter flight company Aviacharter DV launched weekly direct flights from Khabarovsk on March the 31st, only months after starting direct flights from Vladivostok in Russia's far east.
So far this fiscal year, Russian visitor arrivals in the Northern Marianas are up 59 percent to nearly 4,000 compared to the same period last year.
The flights from Khabarovsk will provide another 144 seats weekly.
