The Papua New Guinea Businessman accused by the country's anti-corruption task force of misusing over 13 million US dollars from the PNG government is facing two more charges after police arrested him in Kimbe last week.
Eremas Wartoto, who had evaded capture by authorities by virtue of an Australian visa which enabled him to live in Cairns since 2011, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud and one count of stealing by false pretence.
Mr Wartoto appeared at the Waigani National Court yesterday and his case was adjourned to late July.
Task Force Sweep says that Mr Wartoto was initially charged in relation to misuse of almost five million US dollars that was paid to start his airline company, Travel Air Limited in 2011.
The Senior Magistrate Comos Bidar says Mr Wartoto is accused of conspiring with the former Planning Minister Paul Tiensten to misuse the money which earmarked for subsidising the airfares for people living in remote areas.
