2:57 pm on 27 August 2013

A Samoa government MP and associate minister, Peseta Vaifou Tevaga, is a free man after a prosecution application to withdraw a charge of dangerous driving causing death was accepted by the court.

The criminal charge was filed after a man with special needs was hit by a government vehicle driven by the MP at Leauvaa in July last year.

According to the police, the victim was admitted to hospital and died a few months later in hospital.

The prosecution applied for the matter to be withdrawn because some of its witnesses were unable to appear to give evidence in support of the charge.
