Cook Islands has won the bid to host next year's Miss Pacific Islands Pageant, the new name of the Miss South Pacific Pageant.
The chairman of the Board of the pageant Dr Misimoa Lam, says Fiji also bid to host next year's event and the result was 4-3 in favour of the Cook Islands.
Contestants for the first Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in Samoa this week are from Fiji, Cook Islands, Tonga, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Niue, Samoa and American Samoa
The winner will be crowned tonight.
