The Melanesian Spearhead Group has confirmed it will discuss the West Papuan application for full membership in the MSG at its Leadership Summit in Solomon Islands in July.
The application was submitted this week by members of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua, which was formed late last year at a major summit of West Papuan representative groups hosted by the Vanuatu government.
The MSG Secretary General, Peter Forau, has confirmed receipt of the formal application this week at the MSG secretariat in Port Vila.
