Tuvalu has signed a deal for Taiwan to provide medical treatment for people who need to be referred off island.
The caretaker prime minister Enele Sopoaga says a decision has still to be made about what sort of patients would be sent to Taiwan for further treatment.
Mr Sopoaga has also re-affirmed his country's support for Taiwan joining the United Nations.
