The Tuvalu Prime Minister hopes to name his cabinet in the coming days but has indicated the third woman to be elected to the country's parliament is a front-runner for a position.
Enele Sopoaga was sworn in this morning after successfully being re-elected along with 12 of the 15 other members of parliament.
Mr Sopoaga says he is in discussions with potential cabinet ministers but has already welcomed the arrival of new Nui MP Puakena Boreham into parliament.
"I would look forward to a time when we will be able to have a female cabinet minister in my team. She's a doctor by profession and I think she's a good representative of her country, of her island and I think she has a lot of talent, a lot of vision also for the development of women in Tuvalu."
Mr Sopoaga says his administration will focus on working to make Tuvalu less vulnerable to climate change and global economic forces.
