A shallow 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck this morning near the Santa Cruz islands in Solomon Islands.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says based on all available data it does not believe there is a tsunami threat.
Just over two years ago the Santa Cruz Islands were hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami that claimed at least 10 lives.
