The former head of Papua New Guinea's National Provident Fund, Jimmy Maladina, has been found guilty of misappropriating close to one million US dollars.
The case relates to Maladina's time as the chairman of the fund in the late 1990s, where he conspired with others to defraud the NPF on a large scale.
The Post Courier reports that he fraudulently increased the construction costs of Port Moresby's NPF Tower, which is now the Deloitte tower, between November 1998 and July 1999.
Maladina is due to be sentenced on June the fourth.
