More than three and a half thousand Tongan school children have marched in uniform and performed traditional dances for the King as part of coronation celebrations in the country.
The show was part of a special education day in honour of King Tupou VI and Queen Nanisipau'u at the main sports ground in the capital Nuku'alofa.
A regional director of the University of the South Pacific, Seula Johannson Fua, says the event showed how much the country's leaders valued education.
"It is a testimony to how important education is to Tonga. And the fact that his majesty is here and he graciously visited all the stalls with a keen interest to see what's going on in each of these schools."

The King's formal crowning takes place on Saturday.
