The bill for staging the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea is 3.63 million US dollars.
The National newspaper reports the all-inclusive budget features the same sound system used for the London Olympics in 2012.
The managing director of Makoda Productions, Tania Nugent, told the paper the closing ceremony will feature a broader Pacific flavour than just PNG.
She says most of the budget went towards the opening ceremony.
Ms Nugent says the focus is now the closing ceremony, where traditionally the format is less formal, to facilitate the athletes' celebration.
