The Fiji opposition MP, Mosese Bulitavu, has appeared in court today having been charged with sedition.
He appeared before a judge in Suva with four others, accused of writing seditious comments in public in 2011.
Mr Bulitavu applied for bail variation to attend an overseas meeting at the end of September, to which the State has objected.
The court will rule on Mr Bulitavu's variation request on Monday.
Meanwhile, the total number of people currently charged with sedition in Fiji in separate cases sits at 68.
Dozens of people have appeared in court in the past few weeks amid allegtions of rebel groups trying to form a breakaway state and military-style training.
The military has deployed 140 soldiers in the west and north of Viti Levu to help police in their investigations.
