Fiji's president-elect Jioji Konrote has been sworn into office.
Mr Konrote was the employment and industrial relations minister until a month ago when parliament elected him as the new head of state.
He had earlier had a military career and then served as Fiji's High Commissioner to Australia.
The opposition stayed away from the ceremony.
Mr Konrote succeeds Ratu Epeli Nailatikau who was made president by the military regime in 2009 shortly after it had abrogated the constitution and done away with the appointing body, the Great Council of Chiefs.

In 2013, Ratu Epeli approved the regime's new constitution and approved the immunity decree for those involved in the last two military coups.
He was farewelled in a ceremony yesterday.
The prime minister, Frank Bainimarama, was not at the event because he was ill.
The UNAIDS Pacific Director Roberto Campos says Ratu Epeli will be honoured for his work for HIV/AIDS sufferers by bestowing on him the title of Goodwill Ambassador.
