The Papua New Guinea Hunters have chosen the newly renovated National Football Stadium to be their home base for the 2016 Queensland Cup.
The club shifted to Port Moresby in the off-season after two years playing in Kokopo.
Last season they played a handful of matches at Sir John Guise Stadium in the capital but PNG Rugby League CEO Bob Cutmore said they've opted for the NFS, which also has a capacity of 15,000.
"That's going to be our home for 12 months with a two-year option after that - which is our option to take up. It's the traditional home of rugby league in PNG - the old Lloyd Robson Oval. It's a great facility, it is world standard facility - there's no doubt about that - so that's going to be our home for the next 12 months: it will be our training venue, our home playing ground and we hope to make it a really good home."
Bob Cutmore said it's unlikely they will play any home matches in other parts of PNG this season but nothing has yet been ruled out.
"We have a lot of sponsor commitments that if they went to Lae or Kokopo or even to Mount Hagen we'd have to compensate the sponsors but we do have a "Country Weekend" and I know Michael [Marum] has spoken about should we take the game somewhere else in PNG and that will be discussed in the not too distant future."
The Hunters begin their new season against Souths Logan Magpies this weekend - their first home game is in week three.
