A Papua New Guinea MP has dismissed government claims that he didn't sign a motion of no-confidence against prime minister Peter O'Neill.

Kerenga Kua, a National Alliance MP and former Attorney General, said he had signed his support for a motion deposited with the speaker's office by the opposition.
However, according to the leader of government business, James Marape, the opposition's motion is questionable because it wrongly purports to have signatures of Mr Kua and Sir Michael Somare.
Mr Marape told media he would refer the opposition to police for attempting to abuse procedures of change of government through forgery, fraud and deceit.
But Mr Kua said he saw Mr Marape's claim as a diversion.
"I did sign. I did sign last year and I believe that motion was not tabled until now. So there's been a misunderstanding all round it. It's no forgery. I did sign last year and it's never been tabled. It's the second one I signed that they're tabling now," said Kerenga Kua,
