American Samoa says it is attending this week's meeting of the United Nations Decolonisation Committee to see if there are decolonisation strategies worth considering.
The Committee is meeting in Nicaragua and American Samoa is represented by the executive director of the newly established Office of Political Status, Constitution and Federal Relations, Tapa'au Dr. Daniel Mageo Aga.
The governor's executive assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira said the position of the American Samoa government was delivered last year by the Attorney General.
The governor suggested that the Decolonisation Committee perhaps continue to keep American Samoa on the UN decolonisation list until the people of American Samoa determine their own political status.
