A fashion designer who has helped raise money for Fiji's rebuild says the Pasifika community comes together to help each other through disasters such as Cyclone Winston.
More than five thousand US dollars has been raised for Habitat for Humanity's work in Fiji through a fashion show held in Auckland by the label, MENA.
Designer Agnes Loheni says the label began in Samoa, and they wanted to give back to the charity that helped after cyclones there.
She says other Pasifika businesses donated items to the fashion fundraiser in a show of solidarity.
"I think because we all get affected by them because we have all got families still living in the Pacific and cyclone season, and it is a season, it will hit one Pacific island or another every year so its par for the course for us I guess for people living in the Pacific."
Agnes Loheni says because many Pacific people live in quite basic homes it is important to rebuild quickly to get life back to normal as soon as possible.
