Vanuatu's international airport in Port Vila has again had to undergo remedial work after staff spotted a gap opening up in a part of the runway.
On Monday morning Air Vanuatu delayed jet operations at Bauerfield following a regular inspection which picked up the problem in the runway surface.
Air Vanuatu flights proceeded in the afternoon following remedial works.
In January, Air New Zealand and Virgin suspended flights to Vanuatu over safety concerns with the runway.
The Vanuatu government had signed a deal with the World Bank for a comprehensive upgrade, but it was followed by delays due to changes of government in Vanuatu.
Following interim remedial works, Virgin resumed flights, but Air New Zealand said it wouldn't fly commercial flights to Vanuatu until the comprehensive repairs are done.
