American Samoa's policemen are resigning in higher-than-usual numbers, with 15 leaving in the last few months.

In a House Public Safety Committee hearing, the Public Safety Commissioner Save Liuato Tuitele said the reasons given by the officers did not include financial ones, but he suspected salaries played a major factor.
He said other motives are spouses who have work off-island, and the attraction of more lucrative job offers.
