The Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee is reviving Samoa Games next month.
The committee's head Fa'amausili Taiva Ah Young told the Samoa Observer the games will take place on the 5th of December.
Fa'amausili said SASNOC held a meeting with all the heads of sports and decided that it was time to revive the event again because research shows that the country needs to have competitions annually to prepare athletes for future international tournaments.
He said the event will generate interest and athletes enthusiasm to play in Olympic sports.
Fa'amausili said the committee would also be introducing new sports in schools in April next year, then in June there will be an Olympic day games and then the Samoa Games.
He said the tournaments would be used to select elites to train for the 2020 Olympics.
Next month's Samoa Games in Upolu will start with a parade on the 5th and continue until the 8th.
Savai'i will have theirs from the 13th to the 15th. The sports at the events will include Archery, Basketball, Boxing, Bodybuilding, cricket and fencing.
