Fiji's Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar says people from her ministry have been deployed to flood affected areas to ensure there is no out break of diseases after last week's flooding.
She said they would be working closely with the National Disaster Management Office, DISMAC, to clear debris and help people get back on track with their lives.
"Our teams have been out on the grounds with the DISMAC operations team and we have visited evacuation centres but not all because that's an ongoing process and the plans are in place once the debris is cleared then we will start our campaign to ensure we avoid out breaks of any sort of diseases," she said.
"At the moment we haven't had any reports of any outbreak of disease on the ground level but the team on the ground is monitoring the situation."
Rosy Akbar said it was important for those affected to boil all their drinking water and clean their homes thoroughly.
