Samoa's Polynesian Airlines says it received a lot of complaints after a recent visit by US Vice President Mike Pence to American Samoa triggered sudden flight changes.

The airline said on the day of the visit it was forced to cancel two flights after the closure of Pago Pago Airport was brought forward.
A total of 64 travellers were left stranded because of the sudden change , including a high school group planning to return from Samoa.
A travel agent said an Italian man who to hire a boat to make it to Apia for his connecting flight but secured the last seat before the airport was shut.
