The deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Faizul Ariff Ali, has taken on the role of acting governor after the departure of long-running chief Barry Whiteside.
The Constitutional Offices Commission, said Mr Whiteside's term had ended and the commission's chair, the prime minister Frank Bainimarama, had appointed Mr Ali for a period of three months or until a permanent appointment was made.
Mr Whiteside had been the central bank's governor since 2011.
He was acting deputy governor prior to that from 2009.
