American Samoa has been awarded nearly $US7 million in grants to support children with disabilities.

The territory's congresswoman Aumua Amata said the two federal grants worth US$6.9 million will help make education for all children with disabilities free and more accessible in American Samoa.

She said every child deserved the opportunity to learn and grow and the money will help ensure those with disabilities also thrive.
