A new hospital theatre has been opened on North Pentecost in Vanuatu's Penama Province.
The Mauna Hospital Theatre is just the third hospital theatre in the country after the Vila Central Hospital on Efate and Luganville Hospital on Santo.
The Minister of Lands Ralph Regenvanu, who opened the theatre, praised the people of Pentecost for their vision, saying it had been been built without government or donor support.
The Daily Post newspaper said Vanuatu's chief surgeon Dr Richard Leona had successfully performed the first operation at the theatre.
